Absent but not Forgotten are visiting Score Valley in Ilfracombe this weekend, who knows what will show up!
A still from last nights nightvision camera in the hotel.

Kitted up with 2 cameras, HD sound recorder, lights, laptop, and a compass…
Absent but not Forgotten will be part of Be our Guest, Oriel Davies, Newtown 29/06/13 – 04/09/13
Who is this who is coming takes as a starting point the idea of the haunted B&B; many such establishments are rumoured to have a resident ghost and indeed, it is often a selling point to prospective visitors.
This new installation references the classic 1968 television play Whistle and I’ll Come to You directed by Jonathan Miller from the original ghost story written by MR James in 1904. It features the breakfast scene in a guest house whereby an empirically minded Cambridge Professor declares his scepticism regarding the supernatural but later comes to find himself prey to a terrifying otherworldly force. The play’s simple but haunting treatment conjures an atmospheric cautionary tale which warns against the rigidity of fixed academic opinions – as the professor illustrates with his self-satisfied corruption of Shakespeare’s quotation from Hamlet, “There are more things in philosophy than are dreamt of in heaven and earth…”*
To accompany the installation in the gallery we have gathered a number of stories about the ghostly goings on in and around Newtown, they will be available here
*”There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

Absent but not Forgotten have been invited to Ilfracombe to make work for the Ilfra Expo 14/07/13 – 04/08/13
We are told that there are several haunted sites in the area, the one that interests us is called Score Valley, apparently the locals dont like it, theres talk of a haunted factory on the way into the valley, a derelict church graveyard and scary things going on in the woods!

Here’s a link to a set of images from our recent installation at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, The Seventh Room

We’re very excited to have installed our new work The Seventh Room at Aberystwyth Arts Centre as part of Abertoir Horror Festival 2011. We’re only here until Friday midnight – so come along and visit us if you’re in the area.
Our lovely catalogue has now been printed too – let us know if you’d like a copy.
Many thanks to Abertoir, Aberystwyth Arts Centre and The Arts Council of Wales for their support.
Absent but not Forgotten have been putting the finishing touches to our forthcoming contribution to Abertoir Horror Festival at Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
The Seventh Room is an installation piece using video, sound, textiles, technical objects and furniture, influenced by the world of horror film and paranormal investigation.
We’ve been tweaking the sound today – there are a number of layers and soundscapes which have been mainly created using processed recordings from EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) sessions conducted in the Studio space which are overlaid with samples from the Vincent Price film, ‘The Masque of the Red Death’ which will be showing during the festival.
Come and visit the installation between 9 – 11 November – we’ll be open from the afternoon of 9th and then from 11 am – 12 midnight on Thursday and Friday.
We’re also showing a documentary piece ‘Tales from Aberystwyth’ in The Box at the Arts Centre between 8 – 13 November.
We went down to Cardiff last night to install work in the window of Milkwood Gallery as part of the Made in Roath 2011 festival. You can see the work there until 31 October, but try and get along this weekend – there’s loads happening in spaces all over Roath.
