Fiendish Franglais


The seventh of our thirteenfridays meals was designed and prepared by guest chef, Kirsten Hinks. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there so I missed out on this frighteningly good looking fare!

Tonight’s Menu –
Chilling Crostini Chevre – 13 goats cheese and fig crostini.

Portentous Poisson & Pomme Frites – 13 goujon of cod with 13 chunky chips and homemade tartar sauce.

Gateâu St Jude – puff pastry, chocolate and vanilla cream with 13 choux buns.  St Jude is the patron Saint of desperate cases and lost causes and his day is 28 October (the big storm forecast for this Sunday is called St Jude).

The sixth of our thirteenfridays meals was away from home in Cardiff during the Made in Roath Arts Festival where we were both showing with The Rhôd Artists Group.

Malevolent Mexican


The fifth of our thirteenfridays meals with San Miguel and Mezcal.
Tonight’s Menu –
Ominous accompaniments – 13 pieces of Corn bread and a 13 ingredient salad (Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, Sweet corn, Red pepper, Yellow pepper, Orange pepper, Green beans, Avocado, Celery, Carrot, Coriander, Eggs.

Camarones a la Diabla
Camarones a la diabla – 13 Frighteningly fiery jumbo king prawns in a 3 chili, lime and tomato sauce. Served with sour cream and corn bread.

Chilling Chilli sans Carne – (13 ingredients) Onion, Carrot, Red pepper, Tomatoes, Quorn mince, Red kidney beans, Garlic, Bay leaf, Dark chocolate, Thyme, Chilies, Cholula sauce, Stock.  Served with 13 spicy Asparagus spears, plain boiled rice, salad and corn bread.

Citlalicue’s Kahlua balls – 13 rich chocolate biscuit, sweet coffee liqueur and mixed nut balls dusted with powdered sugar. Made by Kirsten Hinks.

The fourth of our thirteenfridays meals accompanied by Paranormal Activity 1 & 2.
Tonight’s Menu –
Ghostly Garlic Bread & Preternatural Potato Wedges – 13 slices of garlic bread & 13 seasoned potato wedges served with a selection of dips.

Paranormal Pizzas – 13 toppings on 4 pizzas, divided into 13.
Tomato, Mushrooms, Olives, Sweet Red Pepper, Pickled Jalapeno Peppers, Red Leicester, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Tuna, Anchovy, Oregano, Pineapple.

Petrifying Profiteroles – 13 fresh cream profiteroles with dark chocolate. Made by Kirsten Hinks.

‘Im in danger of getting full’ – Sam Knight
